Charlie Bird is one of Ireland's most iconic broadcasters. Over the course of a 35-year career with RTE, he distinguished himself as a correspondent of uncanny energy, enthusiasm and compassion; qualities he employed to help bring countless moments of national triumph and tragedy into vivid focus. In late 2020 Charlie was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, an aggressive degenerative illness for which there is no cure. He resolved to confront the condition with the same unflinching honesty that characterised so much of his reporting. 'Time and Tide' is the record of that final journey, one taken in the company of Charlie's long-time colleague and friend, Ray Burke. At once heart-breaking and life-affirming, it is a landmark memoir.
